The Hon'ble Finance Minister in his budget speech for the Fiscal year 2011-12, clearly reiterated the present government's commitment to create a friendly and service oriented tax environment for ensuring better compliance to the valued taxpayers. Keeping this view in mind, the National Board of Revenue developed a software for automated income tax calculation and hosted it on NBR website. The objective of hosting a tax calculator in NBR web page is to provide an online service to the taxpayers for calculating their taxable income and the tax payable thereon. It is quite understandable that calculation of income tax is a complex task for a non-professional. It is expected that the tax calculator would be an excellent tool in helping the taxpayer to derive their total income and the tax liability thereon without having much knowledge about Income Tax Law and Rules.
